Excuse the Rant (Leah)

I know we have strict rules that this is not a blog for ranting, so I shall only state and let the reader rant in private. My good family has been trying to help me get married - they've all been properly enticed with free babysitting if they find me a blind date - not even a good one. Extra baby sitting if it's a good one, though. Anyway, they really have tried. This week my out of state sister emailed very excitedly to tell me that her friend at church has a brother who is only a year older than me and he lives in Provo. Well, after further investigation the word is that he doesn't like blind dates. My sister went ahead, though, of taking the liberty to email him directly with a picture of me. He kindly wrote her back to say that he is having luck with younger women. I guess one year younger isn't younger enough. According to his sister his mother wishes he'd date women closer to his age. Did I mention that he lives in Provo? Okay, I'm done. I've stated.

I too only date younger women, except, currently I'm a few days younger than the girl that occupies the majority of my free time and I have no reservations at all about it. In fact, it's probably the best decision I've ever made.

The generally held belief that girls are more mature than guys leads us to date younger women, which seems to offer us a better chance of matching emotionally, besides the fact that it can also be intimidating to date an older (i.e., wiser) woman. Although, such restrictions are silly, because you never know with whom you might actually meld. I've dated women of varying ages and it is surprising how my perceptions are shattered when I ignore my "dating qualifications" list. Stepping outside my normal boundaries has done me a whole lot of good.

You make a great point Steve - kudos to you for stepping outside the normal boundaries. When I try that I tend to second guess myself but then I'm ALWAYS glad I took the risk!
